It has been a very slow day at the Gorishek casa today. We all studied Spanish for a while this morning, did some reading, and worked at our computers. Heidi and Easton made a very tasty sweet, hot pepper sauce this afternoon, and we are going back to Guayaquil tomorrow…so another fun trip on the bus!
Chao.
Hey this is Kerryann. A good portion of my day today has been spent reading the second half of your blog posts. I have enjoyed it all so much. I really loved the post about our emotions and how we kind of trap ourselves mentally..yes I relate, very much. I have the time today to enjoy your posts because I took the opportunity to use my pto which is quickly adding up. I am in Costa Rica with my dad and stepmom. Matt and I have considered becoming expats and your blog is so motivational. I left my family behind this time to see things for myself. In the past two days I have had to tell myself numerous times to just relax and enjoy the ride. Btw my dad is asking why Ecuador? Keep up the good work. You are all so amazing. What is your son planning on doing?
Hi Kerryann!
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I appreciate it!
We picked Ecuador because: we can afford to live on the warm waters of the pacific ocean here; we can learn a well spoken Spanish; we can live in and explore South America- Ecuador and adjacent countries. Ecuadorians are nice to Americans- proven true in our encounters here, and the country uses the US dollar for its currency. Seemed like a good country to start being expats in.
Currently our son Easton is self-learning videography and video editing through some online programs. He is still figuring things out and we are encouraging him to use this adventure to explore many areas of interest. In my heart I feel we are offering him a different, and important, kind of higher education experience. He has also been a big help to us in settling in…three heads are better than two kind of thing.
I have heard so many great things about Costa Rica. I hope you are soaking it all in! Please stay in touch.
Take care,
Todd
