It is a beautiful bright sunny morning in Cuenca. I’ve said this before, and I am always so impacted by it, my mood responds to sunshine. When I wake up and the first thing I see is blue sky and sun I feel hopeful, connected, and powerful. I don’t know how to really explain it. Maybe I was an Inca warrior in a previous life; they were children of the sun.

Easton and I had a nice walk to pick up bananas from our favorite ‘banana lady”. We haven’t been to her fruit stand since before leaving to visit the coast. We even bought bananas twice from Supermaxi since being back in Cuenca. I feel like I’m cheating on our banana lady when I do that.

She met us with a big smile. Honestly she radiates joy in her face. I think it may have been her grandson sitting at the stand with her, and he gave us a wave and said “hola”. People here can be very warm and genuine.

I asked for our usual 15 bananas and picked up for 4 red apples too. I haven’t really had a great apple since being in Ecuador. They seem to have a softness or mushiness when biting into them. I have discovered I like them cut up in the oatmeal that Heidi makes. I paid our lady and told her to have a good day before Easton and I headed on our loop around the river.

I’m not sure this ice cream store next to us is a good thing. I feel like we are frequenting it more and more. We needed to go to Supermaxi for some groceries and get some things we can’t get at Feria Libre.  Before we headed on our walk there, we stopped to get a cone.

Sunny day, blue sky, walking with my family, and an ice cream cone to boot. It doesn’t take much to make me happy.
